One of thesimplest types of siding is clapboard siding. The simplicity is basically due to the method of installation of it that is hardly dificult. You know, it really simple to install such a siding. In order to install it, they are just wood planks and metal nails becoming the only primary materials that you will need. Absolutely what you need to do is to arrange the planks, one may call boards, which are uniformed in shape and size with each other. Arrange the planks horizontally to make a series that cover the exterior wall.

But, somehow, I am not saying that you will never face any problem when installing clapboard siding though what you need to do is just to deal with nailing. How you nail the clapboard is, instead, potential to cause some problems, especially if you don’t apply a correct technique of nailing. In short, any improper nailing technique can make the siding installation not that satisfying.

Deciding where on the planks’ surfaces that the nails should be hammered can cause a problem.

Mistakes in deciding in which parts of the planks or boards of siding that the nails should be nailed are things that have to be avoided. To say the least, you cannot just hammer the nails on any side of the wood planks. It is something to be emphasized because if you mistakenly choose the position of the nails to be hammered, you will potentially break the planks.

Where is the best positioning of the nails?

I am not saying a certain position is better than another one. It more about how a set of nails are applied to attach the whole clapboard siding so that is can be firmly assembled to the house’s wall in order to cover as well as decorate it.

Many different people may choose different methods of nailing. Some people may nail both the siding bottom and top; meanwhile, some other people may choose to nail the planks on one of the top and bottom sides. Which is the best between these different methods?

There are three nailing methods that will answer such a question.

2. If you nail on both of the siding bottom and top sides it can make you split it.
3. If you nail on the siding top side it can give more openings for bugs to enter. But, the best thing is the fasteners will be hidden. This method is something you must avoid.
4. If you nail on the siding bottom side it can make it easier to disassemble it in the future. But the nails shouldn’t be too low because you have to make the very upper side of prevous course of the siding cleared.

Those are a couple facts about clapboard siding nailing methods. I hope you are satisfied with the information.
