Snow Stability

### LAST BULLETIN OF THE SEASON: SNOWPACK OFTEN STABLE

Typical Avalanche Situation

Loose Snow (Dry Loose) Problem

Loose Snow (Dry Loose) Problem

Unconsolidated snow releasing as small dry-snow avalanches.

LAST BULLETIN OF THE SEASON: SNOWPACK OFTEN STABLE

  • Natural avalanches: Unlikely.
  • Skier-triggered avalanches: Unlikely, or possibly a rare wet slide triggered by skis when cutting across a very steep, sun-warmed slope.
  • Last bulletin of the season. The Grenoble team wishes you a great summer! See you next year!

Snow Quality

Snowpack and Coverage

  • Snow cover is rather deficient for the season. After a fairly snowy start to winter, the snowpack melted particularly quickly in spring, with a warm and dry April, and a scorching end to May...
  • Snowfall episodes associated with the cool period in early May were only a short-lived respite for the snowpack.
  • Some slopes remain skiable at altitude, but require a long carry.
  • Skiable limits: 2400/2600m on north-facing slopes. 2800/2900m on south-facing slopes.
  • On foot, snow patches are still numerous from 2000/2200m on north-facing slopes.
  • Snow quality Monday: Nighttime refreeze was quite good at altitude. Rapid surface warming on Monday during the day.
