- Snowline altitude is very irregular with a snowpack that is increasingly discontinuous: snow patches or tongues of snow still reach locally down to around 2000m, but continuous snow cover is more above 2200/2400m on north-facing slopes and 2500/2700m on south-facing slopes. There are still good accumulations in gullies and on ledges, even if passes and ridges are often now clear of snow.

- Dense snow, neve-type, often ochre-colored due to desert dust on the surface.
